Ashok Leyland appoints new product development head
A Ramasubramaniam, till recently the CEO of Eicher Tractors, has taken over as the new Executive Director - Product Development at Ashok Leyland. He takes over from M Natraj, who will be responsible for the Advanced Engineering Group and the newly formed Design and Engineering Services Group. Ramasubramaniam has three decades of experience in Automotive Design. Engineering and Operations. As the Head of Product Development at Eicher Motors for a decade, he was responsible for the indigenous development of models, from Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) to Medium Duty Vehicles (MDVs). As CEO of Eicher Tractors, he also headed engine development in the Eicher Group.

In other news, Ashok Leyland has reported a 35.7 per cent increase in June 2005 sales. The company sold 5,243 units, up 35.7 per cent compared to 3,863 units sold in June 2004. Total production was up 40.7 per cent, at 5,438 units.
