M/A-COM Inc, a business unit of Tyco Electronics, is planning to set up design and manufacturing facilities for wireless and signaling equipment in India. Currently, the company has a unit in China. Ireland and Vietnam, Disclosing this, David Coughlan, president, M/A Corn Inc, said, "We feel that India offers lot of advantage to set up a manufacturing unit. As the wireless market in India develops, we will set up manufacturing and design facilities in India." He said that the Indian unit was likely to be as big as the Chinese facility, which employs over 5,000 people.
The company, which manufactures radio frequency and microwave components and subsystems for telecom, aerospace and defence markets, will set up the new facilities in association with local partners. The company would set up the production facility followed by a design unit. However, it has set no timeframe for establishing the facilities. It is also looking at expanding its channel partner network from one to four.
