In a unique deal in the television broadcasting firmament, entertainment channel Sahara One has sold 64 movie titles to Star TV for Rs 20 crore. Sahara One will air the movies first as a world TV premiere on its channel. Sahara has also sold the satellite broadcasting rights, including free to air, pay TV, direct to home for telecast in limited window from October 2005 to June 2007.
The deal has been structured in such a manner that the bigger movies will be allowed to be shown twice or thrice in a 5-6 months window whereas the older movies will have a longer window with 4 telecasts. |
