There is a launch of a range of feature rich lap-tops in the indian market that coincides with the 20th anniversary of the companys foray into laptops which is announced by the computer system division of Toshiba Singapore Pte Ltd, in partnership with HCL Infosystems.Product range includes an Ultra-Portable Portege R 200, 14 inch widescreen Satellite M50 , Qosmio range of high-end TV compatible range as also Tablet PCs, with prices in the range of Rs 80,000 to Rs 1.90,000.The tablet notebook seeks to help a user rediscover the art of writing. Distribution Manager of Toshiba Singapore, said that since the launch of T1100 in 1985 ,Toshiba has recorded worldwide sales of more than 37 million notebook computers through 2004. T1100 was the first successfully marketed battery -powered mobile computing device that opened the door to todays notebooks And Tablet PCs. Market for Indian laptops has been increasing at an estimate of Rs 1,80,000 units in the year 2004 is intended to double at about 3,40,000 to 3,50,000 units this year.
