Radico Khaitans gets a turn to unite with the domestic spirit industry. IMFL is acquired by the countrys second largest liquor company i.e.; brands of Brihans Maharashtra Sugar Syndicate. The deal is being sewed up at a cost of Rs 35 crore. MD OF Radico Khaitan Abhishek Khaitan said that" We have entered into a definite agreement to buy out key eight brands of Brihans, which will add about a million cases to our existing volume sales annually. The brands are Napolean Brandy, Brihans Premium Whisky, Red Russian Vodka, Calcutta Dry Gin, Brihans Grape Brandy, Lord Nelson Rum, and Tropicana White Rum. These brands in 04-05 raked together about Rs 40,crore in revenue. Radico is going to have a volume depletion of nearly 14m cases cementing its position as the 2nd largest domestic spirit marketer with over 10% share of the IMFL market pegged at about 120m cases. Brihans brandy Napoleon Brandy enjoys high equity for its quality as the group has its own molasses distillery, malt spirit manufacturing facility, and grape spirit manufacturing unit. It is said by Mr Khaitan that the Brihans brands like 8 pm Whisky, Contessa Rum, and Old admiral would help in the countrys muscle distribution. The addition will help In bolstering the presence in the CSD channel with about 19 brandsa registered. Mr Khaitan added that they see a huge opportunity to upscale the contribution of these brands. They seem to be confident of boosting their volume growth by about 35 to 40% annually.
