Nano valve produced by UCLA Chemists
The first nano valve is created by UCLA Chemists that can be opened and closed at will to trap and release molecules. Nano valves consist of moving parts-switchable rotaxane molecules that resemble linear motors design. To open and shut the valve the researchers used chemical energy involving a single electron as the power supply. Luminescent molecule is used that allows the researchers to tell from emitted light whether a molecule is trapped or has been released.
