The first nano valve is created by UCLA Chemists that can be opened and closed at will to trap and release molecules. Nano valves consist of moving parts-switchable rotaxane molecules that resemble linear motors design.To open and shut the valve the researchers used chemical energy involving a single electron as the power supply. Luminescent molecule is used that allows the researchers to tell from emitted light whether a molecule is trapped or has been released. |
