In Jharkhand drilling for coal-bed methane commenced recently IN Jharia coal fields of Bharat Coking Coal Ltd. Drilling is to start at another mine at Sudamdih.The methane gas produced from these two mines will be used in the power plant at Moonidih mine and in the dumpers of BCCL. Global Environment Fund(GEF) of the UNDP and the Ministry of Coal jointly financed the Rs 92.43 crore CBM Recovery. Moonidh project encompasses drilling seven wells of 300-1,000 metres depth. |
