Nokia chose chennai for its Network Operations Centre (NOC) because of reasons Like Low-cost skilled labour,a friendly business environment, support from the government and logistics. NOC is a contact point from which a telecom network can be supervised,monitered,and maintained. This is basically a room containing the visualisation of the network or networks that are being monitered, workstations at which the detailed status of the network can be seen ,and the necessary software to manage the networks. The NOC is being set up in addition to the companys plan for a manufacturing unit near Chennai. This is Nokias 10th mobile device production facility globally and will roll out India-specific GSM and CDMA handsets.
