IP Telephony is very popular with Indians as it is far cheaper than normal telephone Calls. iLocus survey reveals that by 2007, about 70% of all long distance calls would be made through Internet Telephony or Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). Despite tight regulations, bandwith problems and the quality of service issues, it is estimated that more than 50% of all international long distance calls from India are made over the Internet, and this is set to grow further in the coming years. And with IP telephony gadjets becoming more and more prevalent and cheaper , this pphenomen is sure to see a spurt. According to a market research group, India Is the second largest market for VoIP services in Asia after China. The Indian IP Telephony is expected to register an average of 60% over the next 3-5 years. |
