Ficci survey reveals Indian consumer durables to achieve a healthy growth
There is a considerable increase seen among the consumers for prefering high end branded, technology products that would lead the Indian consumer durables Segment to achieve a healthy double digit growth in 2005-2006 fiscal, according to Ficci Survey. Survey said"Industry is all set to achieve a growth of 15 to 20% for Colour TVs,25% for DVD,5 Tto 10% for referigerators,20 to 25% for airconditioners And 5 to 10% for washing machines and 25% for microwave ovens." Ficci President said With narrowing competition narrowing down in the price differential between branded and non-branded goods, companies are made to offer efficient after-sale service and support, adding that it was influencing customer preference in favour of branded products. According to the study, the urban consumer durable market for products including TV grew by 7 to 10% whereas the rural sector posted 25% growth annually. The referigerator industry reached 3.9 million units in 2004-2005. Air-conditioning Industry achieved sales of 1.2 million units during 2004-2005. Microwave ovens has grown up by 27.3% with 3.5 lakh units. Ficci said; Availability of consumer loan schemes with reduced interest rates have added to the surge in demand.
