Automobile exports grew by 36% compared to last year. The increase in exports is due to motorcycles, which grew by 56% to 1,88,117 units against 1,20,315 units last year.
According to the Society of Indian automobile exports touched 4,06,880 units in the first half of the FY06 against 2,99,470 units last year. Passenger car exports grew 15% at 87,463 units against 76,061 units a year ago. The commercial vehicle segment registered growth of 43% at 18,095 units against 12,614 units last year. Hero Honda topped the motorcycle segment with 98% growth while Hyundai lead the passenger car segment with 38% growth in exports.
