To qualify for supplying gear to public-sector telecom firms like MTNL, Motorola is contemplating manufacturing of telecom equipment in India. The company plans to apply for upcoming $3 billion BSNL tender for 40 million cellular lines. Nokia, Ericssion and Samsung Electronics are the other MNC vendors who have already announced their intentions to start manufacturing of mobile telephony equipment in India.
