Drug Cocktails taken by patients to control AIDS virus may help protect them against Some cancers caused by infections. According to international researchers, drug mixtures called highly active antiretroviral therapy(HAART) restrains the deadly and incurable virus and help prevent pneumonia and other infections caused when HIV is left free to destroy the immune system. International Agency for Research on cancer (IARC),France,analysed the records of more than 7,300 Swiss HIV patients. It was found that those on HAART had lower risks of Kaposis saroma and non-Hodginss lymphoma Compared to those who did not use HAART. Kaposis sarcoma and non-Hodgins Lymphoma was 20 times more common in HIV patients than in general population. According to researchers in the Journal of National Cancer Institute, HIV patients still Had a higher than usual risk of anal cancer, Hodgins lymphoma,cervical cancer, liver - Cancer,cancer of the lip, mouth and pharynx. |
