People who suffer from an illness that disrupts their breathing during sleep are more likely to suffer a fatal heart attack or stroke. This is found by the researchers at the university Hospital Miguel Servet, Zaragoza, Spain. The problem is called severe obstructive sleep apnoea-hypopnoea caused by a blockage that obstructs a persons air flow during sleep. It affects about 4% of middle-aged men and 2% of women sufferers can stop breathing during sleep for 10 seconds or longer.
