EMS ,Elcoteq, intends to manufacture communication network equipment in India. The company is eyeing a share of the Indian EMS market, expected to grow up to $2 billion in the next few years. Elcoteq, the first company to make mobile hand sets in India, is planning to combine its engineering expertise with that of the local software skills ,which will enable it to provide services to the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Bruno Cathomen ,vice president CNE, Elcoteq, said that there were few companies providing hardware designs in India and this move would encourage the OEMS to use the local skills. The company makes microwave radios, 3G base station radio frequency modules, and switching card assemblies. Its clients include leading companies like Ericsson,Nokia Networks, Siemens, Huawei, Kathrein, and Marconi. The Indian unit will also cater to Africa, Middle East, and South Asia. |
