Toshiba Corporation and Toshiba America Information Systems Inc (TAIS), the industry pioneers in small form factor hard disk drives (HDDs),have attained Panasonic Shikoku ElectronicsHDD design centre in Fremont, California. The newly acquired design centre will support HDD development at Toshibas Ome operations in Japan. Kazuyoshi Yamamori, vice president of Toshibas Digital Media Network company said " Toshiba is determined yo continue its leadership in small form factor HDDs and will provide customers around the world with excellent engineering resources. Acquisition of the design centre will support our continued innovation and product advances." Scott Maccabe, vice president and general manager, Storage Device Division (SDD) of TAIS, informed, "Acquisition of this design centre greatly bolsters our global engineering organisation and represents Toshibas commitment to driving innovation in small form factor hard disk drives. We are adding world-class engineering resources to help Toshiba get closer to our customers in USA ,while greatly enhancing our global product development capabilities. |
