Tarrif rate for imported edible oil with crude soyabean oil have been slashed to $3 a tonne while the tariff value for RBD palmolein came down by $3 a tonne while the tariff value for RBD palmolein came down by $4. The revised tariff rates would be applicable from November 16, a government notification said. The tariff value downward revision for edible oil imports was in the range of $3-4 per tonne, except for palmolein (others) category which was raised by $3 pertonne to $446 a tonne. New tariff trade for crude palm oil would be down by a dollar per tonne to $433 while RBD palm oil has been brought down by $4 per tonne to $435. Palm oil came down at $434 from $437 while crude palmolein tariff rate has been brought down to $440 from $443 a tonne. RBD palmolein came down to $445 from $449 previously. The new tariff value for crude soyabean oil would be $510 as against earlier $513. The previous revision was effected on October 31,05. The reviion is marginal in nature and not much change is likely to place down the line at the markets due to this, said an edible oil expert. Net effect of the downward revision of crude soyabean oil would be in the range of 60 to 70 paise a litre and not beyond he uttered.
