TataMotors -crossed the one-million sales mark since the first passenger car -the Sierra-rolled out in 1991. In October 2005 ,the company produced its one-millionth passenger car and of the one- million cars sold in the last 14 years ,about 936,000 cars have been sold in India and the over 64,000 in export markets. Of them, over half a million were Indicas, over 30,000 Sumos, close to 100,000 Indigos and about 40,000 Safaris. The company also recorded a 17.2% increase in sales compared to 35,283 vehicles sold in October last year.
Cumulative sales for the company at 2,36,304 numbers record a growth of 9.5%. In other news, Tata launched the turbo diesel version of Indica V2. The car gets the 1.4 litre turbo charged engine seen on the Indigo. The engine has an output of 68PS@ 4500 rpm and a torque of 130Nm @2500 rpm. Launched in two trim levels,the car is priced at Rs 4.10 lakhs for DLG and Rs 4.30 lakhs for the DLX model ,ex-showroom Delhi. The companys sales of commercial vehicles in October 2005 in the domestic market were 19,700,an increase of 18.2% over 16,667 vehicles sold in October last year. M& HCV sales stood at 11,520,while LCV sales totalled 8,810.
