General Motors India sold 23542 cars between January and September 2005 to record an over 27% growth in YTD sales with its multi utility vehicle (MUV) Chevrolet Tavera proving a runaway winner with 21960 cars sold since its mid 2004 launch. In September alone the company sold 3220 cars as against 3207 cars in the same month last year.Besides 1600 Taveras, the September sales included 855 Optras and 762 Opel Corsas. The YTD sales of 23542 represented 27.14% growth over 18517 cars sold in the first nine months of 2004. These included 13543 Taveras ,5608 Optras and 4346 Opel Corsas. Upbeat about the company performance, P.Balendran, Vice President-Corporate Affairs, General Motors India said, "In line with GM commitment to exceed the customer expectation in our product and services we recently launched the new Optra Royale with 23 luxury features and a new Tavera Model in its Elite Range. Some more new and exciting products offering better fuel effeciency are on the anvil."
