As a major boost to the agriculture sector in India, a new fertiliser is likely to hit the market, which would increase the crop yields by a third and provide an unbelievable 200%profit margin to manufacturers.A high-tech fungus, which yields in rich crop,is very much in demand in the country. In a sector where companies have not seen healthy profits in years, four local companies, including pharma major Cadilla and a Canadian fertiliser major is ready to sign up as well for this desi wonder. Mr Alok Adholeya ,Director ,TERI and Head of its Biotechnology Initiative, said,"This is a completely eco-friendly organic fertiliser that simply needed a technology that could enable commercial production and mass marketing without loss of efficacy in the transit time to fields."In 2001, TERI came up with a unique technology that allows production of contaminant -free fungi in a sterile semi-synthetic media. That is helping the companies to set up units and start production in various locations across the country. |
