Shahnaz Hussain plans to launch a range of products, in its "Shahnaz Forever Range." The products will be priced at below Rs. 150 as the company attempts to tap the mass market. This affordable range follows the launch of "Fair One" in collaboration with Elder Pharma, last year. The group also plans to expand the Shahnaz Husain Ayurvedic spas, in collaboration with the Japan-based Hyakumata Group.
As part of its effort to expand in the low-cost segment, the Shahnaz Husain group will invest Rs. 5 crores. The range will comprise products crucial to the total skin and hair care routine. "We will launch ageless, spotless, problem free creams. All these products are for the masses and will be available at around half the price of the other Shahnaz Hussain products," said Shahnaz Hussain. "Skincare is no longer a luxury as it has become a necessity and therefore, we felt the need to position ourselves in such a way, that we are able to cater to all segments of the societyand not only to the high end market."
"The herbal beauty care business is estimated at Rs. 500 crore, growing at 40%," she said. It could grow four-fold in the coming years, she added.
The spa business segment she says is worth around Rs. 50 crore by 2008. "Keeping this in mind, we are planning to open spas in Saudi Arabia and other locations in the Middle East. We are also considering proposals for UK and Europe (Italy, Greece, Spain), as well as Japan," she said.
