The state and Centre have joined forces to check the spread of avian influenza. However, the situation is creating logistical problems. "It will be cumbersome to stop vehicles on the road and add to the chaos. And, we dont have any machinery to carry out spot-checks," Mr Deshmukh said.He denied reports about human infection ,but emphasised the two cases have been referrred to National Lab at Pune for urther tests. "Ww expect a final report by Tuesday, after which it will be possible to comment on human infection," he said. He appealed to people to inform the control room of any suspected case of bird flu. Meanwhile, the Centre reviewed the situation in the state. Animal Husbandry secretary PMA Hakeem held a meeting in Mumbai where he was briefed about the situation by the animal husbandry departments to intensify survelliance efforts and send samples to the testing lab at Bhopal as soon as they were collected.
