Since siemens is on the verge of completion of 50 years of manufacturing in India, it has big plans to expand its business all over India. In order to achieve this level, siemens are planning to acquire isolator business of Elpro International with its manufacturing unit at Hyderabad. Also, there are plans to acquire 50 per cent stake in Flender with manufacturing facility for gearboxes at Kharagpur, and setting up of new steam turbine factory at Vadodara with an investment of around Rs 300 million. The Isolator division of Elpro International at Hyderabad offers the high quality disconnecting switches (isolators) covering the entire spectrum up to 420 kV. The addition of the isolator business is expected to strengthen Siemens power transmission and distribution (PTDl portfolio. Render manufactures a wide range of industrial gearboxes and related accessories. These are used in multiple industrial applications. In the last 50 years, Siemens has achieved manufacturing excellence across its facilities, with many recognised as Centres of Competence. This new business will enable Siemens to expand its industrial drive technology portfolio by adding gear systems. Spread over an area of 6.500 m2, the new steam turbine factory in the first phase will manufacture steam turbines for industrial applications up to 45 MW as well as key components for turbines up to 150 MW. The green field project will be on stream by December 2006. |
