Dr Vinay Natu, MLA Guhagar inaugurated the biodiesel project work for the 5,000 tpa in Ratrtagiri district. The plant is being set up by Mint Biofuels Ltd, promoted by the Pune-based Minilec and Intech Group of companies. The group chairman, Y G Bhaisas, gave the project details and its uses to the society in terms of entrepreneurial opportunities and employment generation capabilities in rural and urban India. Mint biodiesel is made from non-edible oil seeds called Karanja {Pongamiya]. These oil seeds can be grown on barren wastelands lying unused. This project involves Karanja plantation, biogas production, organic manure production and captive power generation from biogas. Mint Biofuels Ltd will also design, manufacture and supply on turnkey basis the required plant and machinery to industries for localisation of bidioesel manufacturing. |
