The steel division of ISMT Ltd has raised its liquid metal capacity
to 3,00,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) bv producing 19 "heats" in a day as against the average of 14.5 for the first nine months of the fiscal 2005-06. The increase has been attained largely through process improvement with marginal capital
expenditure. As per to a company source, the plant was initially set up
for a capacity of 1,90,000 tpa and has been able to achieve increasing
levels of utilisation through de-bottlenecking of the capacity by implementing technology and systems improvements. The increase in capacity would also be able to meet the raw material requirement for the 20 per cent rise in tube output envisaged for the current year. |
