The Forward Markets Commission (FMC), commodities market regulator, has been granted Associate Membership of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). FMC has become eligible for the membership of the Presidents Committee, the highest decision making body of IOSCO. The membership would facilitate FMC to have consultations with other members of the IOSCO on how to translate principles into concrete legal and regulatory framework.
IOSCO is a global forum for the market regulators with headquarters at Madrid.
So far, SEBI was the only member from India.
