Vasan Health Care to invest Rs 20 cr in Kerala
Vasan Health Care, an eye care chains in the country, is investing Rs 20 crore in Kerala to cater to growing requirements foreye care infrastructure in the State. New centres would be opened at Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Thrissur and Kannur by July 2007.

The group would work on a `Hub and Spoke model, where Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode hospitals would be recognised as Tertiary-Level centres for ophthalmology, along with secondary-level eye care centres to be opened at Thrissur, Kannur and Kottayam.

There were plans to open 10 more centres across the country by the end of 2007 and the objective was to start 50 eye care hospitals in the country by 2010.

The group had already launched a dedicated super speciality eye hospital in Kochi at an investment of Rs 15 crore. Vasan Eye Care started operations in the State by opening its first centre in Kozhikode last year and catered to 30,000 patients in a span of one year.

Vasan Health Care, which started its first eye care hospital in Tiruchi in 2002, has presence in the three States of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka over eight major locations. The vision of the centre, he said, was to ensure comprehensive quality care to patients of all age group having routine as well as complicated eye disorders.
