Xenitis Infotech, the Kolkata-based technology company, has come up with a proposal to establish a Rs 1,200-crore chip making facility in the Fab City in Hyderabad.

Xenitis, manufacturer of personal computer and certain computer parts, believes that it has excellent long-term relationships with Taiwanese and Chinese hardware manufacturers and the move to set up a manufacturing base for chips for mobile phones would be a logical extension. The project would be taken up in three phases of Rs 400 crore each, and part-funded through debt and equity.
