The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the 1,000-MW Tehri Pumped Storage power plant in Uttaranchal to be set up at an estimated cost of Rs 1,657.60 crore. The approved cost includes an interest during construction (IDC) component of Rs 81.64 crore.
The Tehri Hydro Development Corporation, a Centre-State joint venture, is executing the project. The power plant, which is to be funded through a debt-equity ratio of 70:30, would help in reducing the shortage of electricity in the northern region and also improve the hydro-thermal mix in the country.
