Fortis gearing up for facility in Gurgaon
Fortis Healthcare, a Ranbaxy promoter group company, launched its 12th hospital, Fortis Flt Lt Rajan Dhall Hospital in New Delhi. The 200-bed hospital spread over 1,50,000 sq ft, offers tertiary care in five disciplines: cardiac, renal, diabetes, metabolic diseases and joint replacement and thoracic surgery. The company have invested around Rs 115 crore in the project. It already sports a chain of 11 hospitals across North India.

The company also plans to build a hospital in Shalimar Bagh area of Delhi, which would have 500 beds. The Jaipur facility, which had been acquired from Escorts, would be opened within this year. Most of the construction work is over and it will have 300 beds.

Fortis is also planning to build a mega health facility, Fortis International Institute of Medical and Biosciences (FIIMB) in Gurgaon. It will be built over an area of 75 acres and will have a hospital, a medical college which would offer multi-speciality courses, a research centre, a nursing school and a central reference laboratory amongst other things. The project will need an investment of over Rs 1,000 crore for which talks were on with a number of organisations and corporate houses.
