McDonalds India has plans to invest Rs 100 crore on the opening of 15-20 restaurants in the eastern and north-eastern regions within the next three to five years. The company, on Thursday, announced the opening of eastern Indias first McDonalds Family Restaurant at Park Street, Kolkata. With this, the number of McDonalds restaurants in India goes up to 108, with 63 in the northern and eastern regions and 45 in the southern and western regions. Addressing a news conference here, Mr Vikram Bakshi, Joint Venture Partner and Managing Director, McDonalds India (North & East), said 70 per cent of the Rs 100-crore investment would be on expansion of the brands presence and introduction of new formats. The rest would be spent on back-end operations. Mr Bakshi said McDonalds has set up a regional distribution centre here, which would cater to restaurants in and around Kolkata.
