The major automobile company in India, the Mahindra Renault has recently announced a price reduction in its 1.4L petrol car named the Logan. The company officials have informed that the fully loaded Logan car will be available at a price that is lower by Rs. 31,000 than the present price, from 7th January. That means the new price of the car will be read as Rs. 4,49,000 after January 7, this year.
The company has released a statement in order to make the announcement about the price cut and according to the statement, "Mahindra Renault is offering customers an attractive entry invitation price of Rs 4,49,000 per vehicle (ex-Delhi) on the fully loaded 1.4L petrol variant". The statement also informed that the company would offer the reduced price for a period of 45 days. A source from the company has stated that the decision of cutting the price was taken because of the decline in the sales of the car in the past few months. The industry sources said that the sales of Logan has decreased to 1,500 units in the month of December, 2007. The average sales of the car between the months of May and October was recorded at 2,452 units a month.
According to a top official of the Mahindra Renault, the company has also brought the production of Logan down to 45 cars per day from 125 cars a day in the month of August. The SUV maker company Mahindra & Mahindra entered the passenger car market in the month through the launching of this Logan car. The industry sources are informing that the joint venture between M&M and French auto major Renault SA is currently manufacturing the Logan car in India.
