The two companies have made the JV as the equal partners and this new JV company is going to be an exclusive distributor for all the channels that are being distributed by STAR India domestically. The channels include all those that are distributed across cable, DTH, IPTV, HITS and MMDS (video for mobile through wireless broadband). The sources informed that the new company will discuss with the Network 18 that was going to be a preferred prospective customer for it.
The Managing Director of Network 18, Mr. Raghav Behl is also the owner of a 22 per cent stake in the cable network named DEN. While talking about the new JV company that has been formed recently, the Promoter and Chairman of the company, Mr. Sameer Manchanda, said that the joint venture will also be an "independent platform that would invite other channels to come on board". It can be said here that Mr. Manchanda is also the owner of a 60 per cent stake in the DEN.
