New Cheap X-ray System launched by GE Healthcare
The healthcare business of the General Electric Company named the GE Healthcare, has recently introduced its latest X-ray system and the system is named as the Tejas XR 6000. The officials of the company have informed that this new system is capable of upgrading to digital at a very low cost. The companys President and CEO, South Asia, Mr. V Raja has announced the launching of the X-ray system on Wednesday in Bangaluru.

While announcing the new system from the GE Healthcare, Mr. Raja said, "The new system will be manufactured at GE Healthcares plant in Bangaluru and is part of the value-added products under the In India, For India programme. We are expecting to roll out several variants of the Tejas X-ray systems during 2008". He also said that the consumers will be getting the new GE Tejas XR 6000 at a price of Rs 15 lakh and the system would also provide conventional and future upgradeability to digital X-ray.

Informing that the cost of the upgradation of GE Tejas XR 6000 is a fraction of the cost for the machines available in the market at the moment, Mr. Raja said, "GE Healthcare has taken a significant step to address this need by making digital technology at substantially reduced cost. X-ray is the primary and most-widely used diagnostic imaging tool. This will help radiologists upgrade an analogue X-ray into digital X-ray for less than Rs 60 lakh". He further said that the company is seeing a huge opportunity in India, as according to the companys estimate, a number of over 60,000 X-ray systems are being used in the hospitals and diagnostic centers of India at the moment.

While expressing his views on the launching of the new X-ray system from the company, the General Manager of In India, For India programme for GE Healthcare, Mr. Shireesh Sahai said, "GE is in a position to significantly improve the affordability of X-ray technologies as we have in-house capability to manufacture digital detectors globally, backed by a complete and capable research team and manufacturing plant in India".
