In a recent statement released by the company, the Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) has sated that it has bagged some orders of a total valuation of over Rs 2,000 crore from different clients. According to the officials of the company, the orders have been placed in order to construct 21 platform supply vessels for the European and American clients and the company would make the vessels ready within the next 2-3 years.
When contacted and asked about the companys orders, one of the top executives of the GSL stated that the company has already delivered another platform supply vessel to Deep Sea Supply, Norway, under another agreement. According to the executive, it is the fifth in a series of eight ships being built for the company and this platform supply vessel was made of the popular UT-755 L design. The statement released by the GSL also stated that the vessel was designed for the offshore industry.
Another top official from the GSL has further informed that the company designed the vessel in order for the transportation of deck cargo, pipes, liquid cargo, cement or barrite and also for unloading to rigs and production platform, pipe laying barges. The official also added that as the offshore industry usually moves into the deeper waters, they are now expecting the demand for such advanced vessels to be higher. He ended by saying that the Rolls Royce ship technology group has designed the ships on behalf of the company.
