The major equipment company, the Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has made an announcement on Tuesday and said that it has received a huge order of Rs. 866 crore from the Reliance Industries. The company officials have stated that it has got the contract in order to set up a 345-MW captive power plant in the state of Maharashtra. The company has made the announcement in a statement released on Tuesday.
According to the statement, "Reliance Industries has placed the order for a 345-MW Gas Turbine-based combined cycle power plant to be installed at Nagothane in Raigad district of Maharashtra". The statement also stated that the project is actually an engineering, procurement and construction project that involves the supply and commissioning of an advanced-class Frame 9FA gas turbine. To quote from the statement, "This is the first commercial order on BHEL for an advanced-class Frame 9FA gas turbine and will open up a new line of business for the company".
While commenting on getting the contract from Reliance Industries, one of the to officials of BHEL has stated that the company is setting up the project in order to meet the power requirement of the Reliance Retail and also other ventures of the Reliance Industries. The official further said that the project can also be expanded to up to 1,000 MW and the company is expected to complete the project within 26 months from commencement.
Another source from the company said that BHELs scope of work in the project was going to include the supply of the gas turbine generator set, one steam turbine generator set and also one heat recovery steam generator (HRSG). Apart from these, the company would also operate the civil works and supply select spares. BHEL would manufacture the gas turbine generator at its Hyderabad plant and the HRSG would be manufactured at the Tiruchi plant.
