One of the leading construction firms of India, Larsen & Toubro and its group companies have recently received some huge orders with a total valuation of Rs. 1,057 crore in the Gulf region. According to the a statement from the company, its subsidiary in Oman named the L&T (Oman) LLC has bagged three EPC contracts worth $116 million (Rs 457 crore) from the Oman Electricity Transmission Company. The orders have been awarded for the construction of electrical grid stations and associated transmission system in Oman. The company has also bagged an order for building a $48-million (Rs 189 crore) factory complex there.
A top official from the company was talking about the other orders of the company and said that the L&T has bagged an EPC order with a valuation of $105 million (Rs 411 crore) from the Al Ain Distribution Company. The company will have to build five electrical substations and associated cabling in the Al Ain city of Abu Dhabi, under this order. The official also said that the company would design and build these 33/11 kV primary sub-stations to the specifications of the international consultant PB Power and the entire project is expected to be completed within 24 months.
Under another EPC order that the company has received, the L&T would set up two grid stations valued at $89 million (Rs 351 crore) for strengthening the transmission system in and around Seeb International Airport. The company officials have stated that the order is aimed at meeting the load demand for New International Airport and the other townships that are coming up in the area. The company would also build a new 220/132/33kV sub-station, 2x500MVA grid station and associated 220kV transmission line system and also a new 132/33kV 3x50MVA Grid Station and associated 132kV EHV Cable Transmission System, under the contract. The officials further said that the contract also includes another order worth $27 million (Rs 106 crore) for the construction of a new 132/33kV 2x125MVA grid station and an associated 132kV transmission line system. They said that the Power Transmission & Distribution Sector of L&T Oman would be executing the projects and it would complete them within a period of 15 months, under the consultancy of Energoprojekt Entel LLC.
