The major pharmaceuticals company in India, the Glenmark Pharmaceuticals has recently announced that it has received the approval from the US Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) for its Baddi plant. The company officials have informed that the plant is situated in the state of Himachal Pradesh and it usually manufactures the semi-solid products like ointments and creams. They also informed that the plant has recently received the GMP approval from MHRA of UK and from TPD of Canada as well.
While talking about the benefits that the company is going to enjoy from the USFDA approval, one of the top officials of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals has stated that the approval would benefit the company a lot. He said that the company would be able to enter the niche segment of semi-solid dosages in most of the regulated markets of the world, with the help of this approval. The official also said that the company is now planning to launch a number of products in skin care treatment in the US and also in the EU markets.
The CEO and MD of the Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Glenn Saldanha has also made some comments after receiving the USFDA approval and said, "Other plants of the company at Ankleshwar and Goa are already approved by these agencies". According to the sources from the company, the Baddi plant in Himachal Pradesh is a sully commissioned plant and it has the capacity of producing over Rs 230 crore worth of products at the moment. The sources added that the facility is also catering to the Indian requirements at present and it has produced batches for filing in the US and Europe as well. The company is now expecting that the Baddi facility would break-even in the first two years of its operation.
