Indra K Nooyi: The First Woman to Head US-India Business Council
The CEO of one of the leading soft drink maker companies of the world, PepsiCo, Indra K Nooyi has recently been selected as the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the US-India Business Council (USIBC). The members of the board of directors have elected her anonymously and as a result, Nooyi has become the first ever woman to serve at the helm of this business advocacy organisation.

While announcing the news and also expressing his views over Indra K Nooyis selection, the outgoing Chairman of USIBC, Mr. Charles "Chip" Kaye said, "At this important moment in US-India relations - and at this point in USIBCs 33-year history - USIBC is truly fortunate to have someone of Indras talent, insight and vision to leverage the business communities of both countries and to cement the promise of the US-India partnership".

Mr. Kaye is the current Co-President of the New York-headquartered private equity firm named Warburg Pincus. The Warburg is a consistent and successful investor in India since the economic liberalization took place. The sources from the industry are informing that the US-India Business Council comprises 250 of the largest US companies that are presently investing in India along with the other international Indian companies. The council is mainly aiming at deepening the bilateral trade between the two countries of India and the United States of America.
