In a move to attract more customers Unilever and Procter & Gamble are offering old creams for new. Both the companies are offering their products in lieu of your present creams. This is a strategy to popularize their own products. In a way they are sampling their latest products. Hindustan Unilever is offering Ponds Age Miracle while P&G is offering Olay Total Effects.
In Andheri, Mumbai P&G invited its customers to exchange their old bottle of moisturizer for a new pack of Olay Total Effects. This event took place last weekend at the Infiniti Mall in Andheri. The company had arranged for Olays Effects Challenge zones at the mall and it had also roped in Tisca Chopra of Taare Zameen Par fame to endorse their product. Consumers were also offered a quick course on how to prevent their skins from ageing. Some tips on anti-ageing were provided. Free massages to the participants were also offered on the companys behalf.
HUL is also walking on similar lines to woo the consumers. Initially it has started with the 6 metros where the company has come up with exchange counters. Here the women can exchange used or unused skin creams like sunscreen lotions, moisturizers, anti aging, bleach, cold creams, fairness creams or oil control for a bottle of Ponds Age Miracle, priced at Rs. 400. The old creams will have to be of the same value. The offer is on in the cities of Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangaluru and Chennai and it will continue till 14th February.
With the growth in the FMGC market the competition is growing tougher. As a result it has become essential for various brands to introduce unique schemes to stay ahead of the competition.
