In a recent statement released by the company, the PepsiCo India has stated that it is going to perform a series of initiatives in the state of Andhra Pradesh very soon. The company has stated that there are basically three projects in this series and the projects include a Waste to Wealth project, a Livelihood Resource Centre (LRC) and also some financial support to a water management initiative in the Malkapur village. The officials of the company also informed that the PepsiCo India would be implementing the projects in collaboration with the State Government, Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) and the corporate sector with peoples participation. The company will be having an investment of over Rs 30 lakh in these three projects.
When contacted, a top executive of the company said that the Waste to Wealth project was likely to be grounded in the district of Sangareddy and Exnora and the Sangareddy Municipality would be partnering PepsiCo India in this project. The company also stated in the release that this is the 6th such project in India. According to the company officials, PepsiCo has already paid an amount of Rs 19 lakhs for the construction of Zero Waste Centre in Sangareddy. The officials further said that the Sangareddy Municipality and Exnora have targeted 10 wards, with a population of about 20,000 people in the first phase of the project.
While talking about the other projects of the company in Andhra Pradesh, another top official from PepsiCo India said that the Livelihood Resource Centre is actually an employment skill development initiative by the PepsiCo Foundation. The CAP Foundation is associating PepsiCo India in this project and the initiative is mainly aiming at facilitating alternative livelihood to the rural youth. The youth is defined the people who are aged between the group of 18-35 years and living below poverty line. The initiative is planning to initiate the youth by extending training in customer relations and hospitality management courses along with the spoken English and computer education. The third project that is the water management initiative is going to be set up in the village of Malkapur for a water supply project. The project would be providing some financial support of Rs 9.4 lakh to the district for a water contract with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board.
