Finolex Cables Ltd (FCL) has entered into a JV partnership with Japan-based J-Power Systems Corporation to manufacture extra high voltage cables at a new facility at Urse near Pune, amd offer complete turnkey solutions in these systems. Finolex J-Power Systems Pvt, the new JV entity, is a 51:49 partnership between the Japanese company and FCL, and is J-Power Systems, and Deepak Chhabria, managing director, Finolex Cables, signed the agreement. The manufacturing unit will be equipped with a modern production facility like vertical continuous vulcanizing tower to produce cross linked polyethylene (XPLE) insulated power cables from 60 to 500 kV grade. Elaborating upon the companys plans, chhabria, said that the venture involved a financial outlay of Rs 135 crore in the first phase of development, with commercial production commencing within a couple of years.
