A total of 17 top power companies have decided to participate in the bidding process for 2,000 MW power supply to Gujaraat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL) on long-term basis. The company had in August invited proposals from power traders and companies to procure 2,000 MW through competitive bidding under Centers new tariff-based policy. "The state owned power generation, transmission and distribution company had fixed November 3 as the last date to submitting request for qualification (RFQ) for the companies willing to supply power to the company. Total 17 leading power companies have decide to participate in the bidding process by submitting their RFQs" GUVNL sources informed.
"Around 26 companies had purchased RFQ documents from GUNVL to supply power through competitive bidding. After successful completion of first round of power purchase, which was completed early this year, GUVNL had in August invited the proposals from power generators, traders and promoters to procure 2,000 MW power on a long term basis through competitive bidding. In order to facilitate more competition, GUVNL also extended the date for purchasing RFQs by one month.
