Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has projected that a joint venture 740 MW gas-based protech in Tripura by the company, the Tripura government and infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Limited (IL&FS), would be commissioned by 2011.
According to sources, the Tripura Government has noted that northeastern states can consume the entire power produced by the ONGC Tripura power Company Ltd (OPTC) , and the transportation of balance power to Bongaigaon may not be needed. In that case, transmission lines may not be required at all.
