The once major player in the Indian electronics sector and that is also making a come back in the industry, the Sanyo-BPL, has recently announced that it is slowly making some positive moves into the white goods and also in the colour television markets. The company officials informed that they are keen to make a come back into the market, even as they are fighting hard to achieve its sales and revenue targets at the moment.
Vice-President for Sales of Sanyo-BPL, Mr. Alok Arora has made some detailed comments on the companys plans for getting back a good hold in the market and said that the company is presently fine-tuning its marketing strategy. He said that this new marketing strategy is going to allow the company to build awareness and also to strengthen the loyalty among its customers. He added that they have also taken the decision to stop importing the LCD television sets from Sanyos plants abroad and also to start manufacturing them at its plant near Bangaluru from the month of May, this year.
Adding some more comments about the companys strategy, Mr. Arora said that the plant is also producing the slim TVs at the moment. However, he said that the company is thinking of continuing the import of white goods like refrigerators and washing machines from Sanyos plants in other countries. According to Mr. Arora, the plant near Bangaluru is being considered as one of the best plants in Asia and it is presently having a capacity to produce 1 million television sets per year on a single shift. He also said that the plant is having a number of 400 employees at the moment and about 75 per cent of the workforce consists of operators. While talking about their plans further, Mr. Arora said, "We are picking up gaps in the market and trying to address them instead of taking competition head on". He added, "We have gone back to our customers and encouraged them to upgrade their products. We have found a good response to our efforts".
