The UK-based equity fund that make investments in Indian property, named the Trikona Capital has announced that it is likely to invest a huge amount of around $10 billion in the countrys real estate market very soon. The officials from the company have stated that they are planning to make the investment over a decade and it has already invested a huge $450 million in a dozen transactions in India over the past one-and-a-half years.
Informing all these, the Co-Founder and Managing Director of the company, Mr. Aashish Kalra said that the company is presently investing in two special economic zones, having an area of 10 million sq ft around the city of New Delhi. He added that the company is also intending to make further investments as the demand for homes, offices and industrial parks has been increased significantly. In his words, "Its the middle income, middle India growth story-thats what we are all about". He added, "Our viewpoint is put a billion dollars every year in the country over the next decade and continue making money and returning wealth to our shareholders".
The sources from the industry have informed that the investors and developers are seeking a share of the rising demand in the worlds fastest-growing major economy after China, at the moment. According to the predictions of the Trikona Capital, the rising salaries of India are going to accelerate the demand for offices, factories, shops and houses in the near future. It can be noted here that Mr. Karla did make a prediction a year ago that the fund would be investing an amount of $5 billion in India over the next seven years. The industry sources informed that the Trikona Capital has already raised an amount of $445 million in an initial public offering in the month of April 2006 and has also made investments in the Indian real estate companies that include the Phoenix Mills and Fortis Healthcare.
