One of the leading power equipment maker companies of India, the Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has stated on Monday that it has received a huge order for supplying main plant package to a 1,000-MW project in Bihar, being established by the NTPC and Indian Railways. The company officials have informed that the order is having a total valuation of worth Rs 2,030 crore and a Joint Venture (JV) company between NTPC and Indian Railways, named the Bhartiya Rail Bijlee Company Ltd, has placed the order to BHEL.
The company has already released an official statement regarding the order and said that the 1,000-MW project that is being set up by the JV company is named as the Nabinagar Thermal Power Project. According to the statement, "With this, BHEL has won all the thermal power plant orders finalised by NTPC and its joint ventures". The statement added that the company is required to supply and commission some steam generators, turbine generators and associated auxiliaries with controls and instrumentation system, under the agreement.
While talking about the order, one of the company officials have informed that BHEL has won the contract under competitive bidding, and the project is including a number of four units of 250 MW each. The official added that the units are slated for synchronization during the 11th five-year plan period and they are going to add 24 million units every day to the grid on commissioning. The official further informed that the company has already enhanced its manufacturing capacity to 10,000 MW per year and is also planning to further increase it to 15,000 MW per year within the next two years.
