One of the leading companies in the Indian trading sector, the state-owned MMTC has released an official statement on its website on Monday and has invited bids for selling a huge amount of 3,300 tons of imported tur whole (pigeon peas) in the domestic market. The statement from the company has stated that the bids would stay valid till 25th March and the company would take a final decision on the tender by 1st April.
According to the statement released by the MMTC, the tur whole that are going to be sold would be of Myanmar origin grown in the current season and the minimum bid quantity for the tur would be 1,000 tons. However, the statement added that the parties bidding for the full quantity of tur whole would definitely enjoy some preference from MMTC. The company also said that it is expecting the consignment from Myanmar to arrive at the Nhava Sheva Port in Mumbai by the months of April-May, 2008. The company further informed that the bidder is required to quote the price on the basis of tendered quantity and load port inspection report. The sources added that the Indian government has recently contracted to import 14.02 lakh tons of the pulse for meeting the domestic requirement and 10.7 lakh tons of those pulse have already arrived in the country till 8th February.
