The Ministry of Commerce and Industries has recently announced that the spice powder and masala manufacturer company, Eastern Condiments (P) Ltd, has been selected for receiving the award for the highest performance in export of spices powders and masala mixes during the financial year 2006-07. The officials from the Ministry have stated that the Ministry will present the award to the company, along with awards for other winners at a national level function organised by the Spices Board.
The Chairman of Eastern Group, Mr. M.E. Meeran was expressing his happiness over the matter and said that this is the 10th consecutive year that the Eastern has bagged the largest exporter award of blended spices in consumer packs. He said that the award is actually a testimony of the global standards set by the company in quality and manufacturing processes. He added that the company has already taken a number of initiatives for expanding its footprint to newer territories in the coming years.
Mr. Meeran was also talking about the other plans of the company and said that they have almost completed the process of its capacity enhancement that is going to make it, the single largest spices processing plant for spice powders. The industry sources have informed that the Eastern Condiments is actually a part of the Rs 260-crore Eastern Group that have diversified business interests in a number of areas like the pre cured tread rubber, rubberized coir mattresses, apparels, packaged drinking water, education and also the wind mills as alternate sources of energy.
