The largest automobile company in India, the Maruti Suzuki India has announced the launching of its latest entry level sedan car Swift DZire on Wednesday and also stated that it is not thinking of revising its prices right now. The company officials said that they are not going to raise their cars prices, in spite of the rising steel prices, as they are considering the present sluggishness in the automobile market.
The Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales of Maruti Suzuki, Mr. Mayank Pareek was talking about the issue in the launching occasion of Swift DZire and said, "Why only steel? The prices of other raw materials are also increasing. Margins are definitely under pressure. But market sentiment is so bad…. How can you increase the prices? We will see till when we can absorb the increasing costs". The company has not given any exact forecast on the growth of the passenger car industry for the fiscal 2008-09 as well and Mr. Pareek said, "We are yet to calculate the growth for the next fiscal. But usually the excise duty cut benefits are reflected in sales only after five-six months".
The officials of the company have informed that it has launched the new sedan Swift DZire for capturing a dominating share in the segment. According to the Managing Director of Maruti Suzuki, Mr. Shinzo Nakanishi, "Many of our customers are not able to get an entry level sedan. The year 2007-08 will be the best year as Maruti will become a leader in the A3 segment". He said that the car is based on the Swift platform, and it is coming with both the petrol and diesel variants. The company further said that it is likely to revise the price of the car, later and the Swift DZire is going to compete with the Indigo CS of Tata Motor and the Logan from Mahindra- Renaults. The company also stated that the new car is having the features like integrated stereo, steering mounted audio controls, automatic climate control and power windows. It is equipped with the dual Airbags, ABS with EDB, collapsible steering column and an i-CATS anti-theft facility, as well.
